I think firstly we need to take a look at the stats on the players from 2010 to 2013 with their previous clubs:
The above indicates that they are very similar, both have the ability to contribute a lot in a season, neither individual is injury prone and this will please both North London clubs. In the past both clubs have certainly had the creative individual in the squad but keeping them fit has certainly been a challenge. Both players have won league titles with their previous clubs Ozil (1) and Eriksen (3), they have both played in the Champions League and made the headlines for the world to see. Ozil has so far contributed more in the major competitions for his country but Germany currently have a much stronger squad as it stands.
Mesut Ozil has been compared with Zinedine Zidane where as Christian Eriksen has been compared with Michael Laudrup, these are certainly tough acts to follow and only time will tell if either player lives up to these expectations. Ironic that Zidane probably had a say in Ozil's departure at Real Madrid so does the great Zidane not believe Ozil can live up to the expectations?
Being a Tottenham fan it's difficult to not be biased and I can appreciate Mesut Ozil's ability's and what he brings to the game but 42.5m for him and Christian Eriksen's fee to be in the region of 11.5m, you have to believe that Tottenham have got a real bargain. Yes Eriksen only had 1 year on his contract but Arsenal could have got Eriksen for this fee so Arsenal fans can't argue about this fact.
Both players made their Premier League debuts this weekend and both were hugely influential and contributed an assist for their new clubs. Currently nothing can separate these two players.
I for one am hoping for Christian Eriksen to prove to the world that he played at Ajax to learn and grow with a fantastic club to achieve success and that Ozil needs Galacticos around him to achieve anything.
This season is certainly looking like it's going to be a good one for both North London clubs and the talk is not just going to be about who finishes higher but also who is better Ozil or Eriksen.
For me it will be Eriksen.
